This residential property, owned by East Suffolk Council, was transformed to meet the needs of a family with wheelchair users requiring 24-hour in-house care.
To create a fully accessible living space, the existing single-story extension was demolished and replaced with a larger, modern extension. The garage was converted into a bedroom with an adjoining accessible wet room, equipped with a hoist and moving rail system to enable seamless movement between the spaces. To support this specialised equipment, the garage roof underwent additional structural strengthening.
The rest of the property was fully refurbished to enhance functionality and comfort. The kitchen was expanded into a spacious kitchen-diner, and the lounge was extended into the main reception room to form a generous, open-plan living area to accommodate the entire family.
The project was successfully completed within the required timescales, delivering a safe, functional, and welcoming home, ready for the family to move in and enjoy.
