What we do
Established in Lowestoft in 1967 by Mel Oakes, MS Oakes Ltd is a family-run construction business, led by a management team with extensive industry experience.
Our projects range from small-scale works to developments exceeding £2 million, serving Public Sector, Commercial, Residential, Education, Healthcare, and Ecclesiastical clients. We specialise in new builds, extensions, conversions, refurbishments, alterations, maintenance, and conservation work for listed and heritage buildings.
Our sister company, MS Oakes Joinery Limited, was established in 1988 to provide custom joinery, while WM C Reade of Aldeburgh Ltd, acquired in 1998, has been integrated to enhance our expertise in traditional refurbishment projects.

A strong team
With an experienced, long-established senior management team and a skilled workforce trained in-house, we prioritise expertise and continuity. And every project is actively managed by our dedicated, in-house Site Managers and Contracts Managers to ensure expert oversight at every stage.
Control of equipment
We own and maintain the majority of our plant, machinery, and equipment, giving us access to the equipment we need when we need it, enhancing both our efficiency and reliability.
An effective, local supply chain network
All our projects are supported by our tried and tested, local supply chain network, which assists us in delivering quality work on time and in budget. This includes the support of a sister company, MS Oakes Joinery Ltd, that can provide premium custom-made hardwood and softwood joinery for our projects, as well as a number of specialist subcontractors with a proven track record.
