As part of the ongoing redevelopment of Great Yarmouth Seafront and the Marina Centre, MS Oakes was contracted to carry out a series of demolition and refurbishment works. This included the demolition of sections of the existing toilet blocks while refurbishing the remaining facilities. Additionally, we extended the car park, which required the installation of a new, extensive drainage system to manage surface water runoff. A new retaining wall, complete with metal handrails, was also constructed along the seafront side of the site.
The project necessitated close collaboration with another contractor working on the Marina Centre at the same time, with whom we shared site access. Establishing a strong working relationship and coordinating effectively was key to ensuring smooth operations.
Given the site’s proximity to public areas, maintaining security and minimizing disruption were top priorities. We implemented stringent noise and dust suppression measures to safeguard the public and ensure a safe working environment.
The timely completion of this project was critical, and we successfully delivered the works ahead of the Marina Centre’s reopening and before the start of the busy summer season, ensuring minimal disruption to the public.
