St Michaels Church, Beccles

The church of St Michael the Archangel is a magnificent medieval building perched on a high scarp overlooking the River Waveney. Its rich history and architectural beauty made this project both a privilege and a responsibility.

Our scope of work involved the careful removal of benches from the north and west aisles and the nave to make way for new replacements. We installed a new pamment floor at gangway level, enhancing the church’s aesthetics and functionality, and constructed a raised timber floor at the east end of the north and south aisles. Additionally, we installed a bespoke servery cabinet, complete with integrated water and electricity connections, as well as accompanying servery trolleys.

Throughout the project, the church remained open to the public, requiring meticulous planning to ensure uninterrupted access. We implemented dust suppression and noise reduction measures, prioritising the safety and comfort of visitors at all times.

The project was completed on time and within budget, preserving the church’s historical integrity while enhancing its usability for the community.
